Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the league office.

The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Posted on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name Rice by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No official complaints were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
